Hi all! I'm trying to find the brand name of the vibrant pink colored liquid hand soap common in public restrooms- schools, airports, gas stations, etc. in the American west coast. It is very sweet smelling, not quite bubblegum, and not flowery or other common soap scents.
It is bright pink and seems to be all over the place, but for the life of me I can't find the brand name. Thanks in. The second and more likely candidate for pink scum in your bathroom is a bacteria called Serratia marcescens, another microbe that prefers to multiply in the damp and humid conditions found in.

That pink soap. I know you know it. It's in nearly every public bathroom, but is it healthy? And what is it doing to our skin microbiome? Remember That Nostalgic School Bathroom Pink Soap From Your Childhood? Erica Russell Published: February 25, 2025 iStock via Getty Images.

Yes used to be pretty common pink and white dry soap that turned into a type of pasty soap for a second before it. dissolved Reply reply More repliesMore repliesMore repliesMore replies. The soap is, as I said, cherry scented mainly (many point out an almond scent, too), pink, shiny and usually is pretty lotiony and lathers up pretty well.
Sorry I really like scents lmfao I could totally use this soap. Chances are if it's a service industry soap, it's also pretty antimicrobial which is something I could use. A little embarrased to admit that I love the smell of whatever pink soap they use in restaurants and bars' restrooms.
I could probably just ask what it is (they probably buy that in bulk?) but it's more fun to talk about it on reddit. Microbiologists have discovered that some of the soap in public restrooms is so contaminated with fecal matter that you're almost better off washing your hands in the toilet after you flush it. Sources of these substances include soap residues in bathing areas, feces in toilets, soap and food residues in sinks and food residues in pet water dishes.
Serratia can also grow in tap water in locations such as toilets in guest bathrooms where the water is left standing long enough for the chlorine residual disinfectant to dissipate.
