My bathroom on dryer mode reliably dries everything in an hour, so AC dehumidifier mode isn't even an option for me. I stopped worrying about the laundry on rainy days ever since I moved into my current place. So I've seen that most Japanese apartments typically only have a washing machine and then clothes are air dried.
Being from the US, I'm absolutely not used to doing laundry this way. I'm used to using a dryer. What are some general tips on how to do laundry in Japan? I know this will be mocked for a "how do I life?" question but I don't care.
What I miss from Japan ... Indoor Bathroom Dryer — Steemit
This is a legitimate cultural difference. Apparently 56% of japanese households recycle their bath water for laundry. It makes more sense when you remember people wash in the shower before soaking, so the water doesn't get so dirty.
About drier alternatives, sometimes "units baths" have a setting that will make the whole bathroom cubicle warm and dry for drying clothes inside. You hang the clothes on a rack or on the shower curtain rail and they dry fast. In some Japanese hotels you can dry your clothes by hanging them in the bathroom and setting the vent/blower to the clothes-drying mode (google drying clothes in Japanese bathroom).
Japanese Bathroom Dryer
14 votes, 64 comments. Hello, our soon-to-be family of 4 is looking for a washing machine and dryer in one (no room for separate units). Can anyone.
A Japanese Bathroom Dryer is much more than a dryer. It also serves to heat or cool the bathroom as well as provide ventilation. All of these functions not only make the bathroom experience more comfortable, but also serve to reduce mold.
The Japanese Bathroom Dryer (Heater, Cooler, Ventilator)
28 votes, 32 comments. Does anyone have any good suggestions on a small washer/dryer combo, or a small washer and a small dryer (separate)? The space. Due to the limited space in Japan houses, they need to fit as many things as possible in a small apartment and this includes a dryer.
They have added clothes drying feature in their bathroom, therefore, you can just wash your clothes, hang them there and they will dry in a few hours (depending on your setting). The wet bathroom can get black mold so easily, especially the season during early to late summer when the humidity increases, that the use of the dryer/ventilation system helps to prevent the growth of mold. Some types of dryer/ventilation systems have a heating function that helps keep the ideal temperature of the bathroom in winter.
